Early dinner, the show, then a late drink. A simple plan for a memorable evening in theatreland.

Part 3 of 41 minute readPublished October 2026

Plan around the curtain

Most West End evening shows begin between 7pm and 8pm, so meet at about 5.30pm for a pre theatre menu. Many restaurants around Covent Garden and St Martin's Lane offer one, and they know how to get you out on time.

Choosing the show

A long running musical is a safe choice if you do not know each other's tastes. If you are planning a dinner date first, check the running time, since some shows finish after 10.30pm and most kitchens will be closing by then.

After the show

Theatreland is at its best around 10.30pm, when the crowds spill out. Soho's late bars are a short walk away, and hotels around Covent Garden and Charing Cross mean you never have to look for a taxi. Book your time with us to include the whole evening, so you are not rushing the final part.
