Dinner Dates in London: Where to Go and How to Plan

Where to book, how long to allow and how to choose a neighbourhood that suits the evening you have in mind.

Part 1 of 41 minute readPublished October 2026

Choose the neighbourhood first

Mayfair is the obvious choice for a special occasion, with celebrated dining rooms around Berkeley Square and Park Lane. Marylebone is quieter and more intimate, with small restaurants on the High Street and Chiltern Street. Soho and Charlotte Street are livelier, with plenty of places that take late tables.

Make it easy on the night

Book a table somewhere you can actually hear each other. A corner table or a counter seat is far better for conversation than the middle of a loud room. Tell the restaurant if you need a late sitting, and choose somewhere close to your hotel, so the evening never involves a long journey.

How long to book

Allow three hours as a minimum, which is why our ladies list a dinner date rate on their profiles. It gives you time for two courses without watching the clock. If you are planning a show or drinks as well, tell us when you book, and we will suggest how long to allow.
